A delegation from the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will take part in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Bangkok, Thailand, the central bank said on Wednesday.
The meetings bring together the Boards of Governors, the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions, as well as the International Monetary and Financial Committee and the joint Development Committee, which serve in an advisory role.
According to the NBS, the main topics will include the global economic outlook, long-term resilience of the world economy, sustainable growth, the impact of rapid artificial intelligence development, the management of high public debt and stronger fiscal discipline.
Serbian representatives will also attend a joint meeting of the Swiss Constituency, a group of countries represented together at the IMF and the World Bank, and a closed meeting organised by the director of the IMF's European Department with central bank governors and finance ministers. That session will focus on the economic outlook for Central and Eastern Europe.
The NBS delegation is expected to hold bilateral talks with IMF management and meet representatives of central banks, major financial institutions, foreign investors and other partners to present Serbia's economic results and investment opportunities.
For Serbia, the meetings are an opportunity to exchange views with key international lenders and investors at a time when governments in the region are tracking global growth, financing conditions and policy responses to inflation and debt pressures. The talks also give the NBS a chance to promote Serbia's macroeconomic performance and business climate to a wider audience.
