LJUBLJANA, Serbia's EXPO 2027 company said on Thursday that nearly 2,000 Slovenian companies are expected to take part in the Specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.
Danilo Jerinic, director of EXPO 2027 LLC Belgrade, said the interest shows that the event is becoming a platform for business contacts and cooperation, not only a showcase for the host country.
"A conference room full of people who came to hold discussions and open up new opportunities for cooperation best reflects the degree of interest in EXPO among Slovenian companies," Jerinic told Tanjug.
Earlier on Thursday, EXPO 2027 LLC Belgrade and the Slovenian Chamber of Craft and Small Business signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the chamber will serve as a central contact point for Slovenian companies planning to join the event.
Jerinic said the agreement would be important for the participation of Slovenian businesses at EXPO 2027.
The Belgrade presentation was part of a Visit Serbia business meeting in Ljubljana that gathered representatives of the Serbian and Slovenian tourism and business sectors. Organisers said the goal was to introduce the Slovenian public and tourism industry to EXPO 2027 and to present Serbia as a tourism destination.
After the presentation, companies took part in B2B meetings focused on tourism and travel. The Ljubljana stop is part of a wider international promotion tour across leading European markets.
EXPO 2027 Belgrade is scheduled for May 15 through August 15 2027 and is expected to attract more than four million visitors. It will take place under the theme Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.
More than 140 international participants have already confirmed their attendance, which would exceed the previous record of 117 participants set by EXPO 2017 Astana.
