Sources and transparency

Readers have the right to know where our information comes from and how our articles are made. This page explains it openly.

Primary sources

Most of our news is based on official statements and data published by:

  • the Government of Serbia and its ministries
  • the National Bank of Serbia and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia
  • the Tax Administration and other public institutions
  • the City of Belgrade and public utility companies
  • companies, business associations and international organisations
  • sports federations and clubs

Media sources

We also follow established Serbian and international media, including the national news agency Tanjug and public broadcaster RTS, as well as specialised business, energy and technology publications. When a report is based on another outlet's work, we name it. We do not publish rumours or claims we cannot trace to a reliable source.

How an article is made

Serbia News uses a system that monitors the sources listed above and uses artificial intelligence tools in preparing articles. These tools help translate information from Serbian into English, turn an official statement into a clear news story and highlight what matters most to the reader.

The following rules always apply:

  • no facts are added that are not in the source, especially dates, amounts, names and figures
  • statements and assessments are attributed to whoever made them
  • announcements are not presented as completed facts
  • the promotional or partisan tone of a source is not carried over

Editorial responsibility for every published article remains with the newsroom. Articles are overseen by the Editor-in-Chief, and every reported error is checked and corrected.

Photos

We publish photos from the original source when this is permitted, photos from licensed stock services (for example Pexels, Unsplash and Pixabay) with author credit when the license requires it, and illustrations. An illustrative photo does not show the event described unless this is explicitly stated.

Report an error

If you think any information is inaccurate or incomplete, write to contact@serbia-news.com. The procedure is described in our Corrections policy.
